All-rounder Scott Styris will miss New Zealand's cricket tour of Bangladesh next month with a partial stress fracture to his lumbar spine.
New Zealand Cricket medical staff said Styris will be on a progressive strengthening and loading programme for six to eight weeks before starting a bowling plan in mid October.
Styris said he was disappointed to miss the tour.
"I'm aiming to be ready for action by the start of the Indian series - of course this decision will be made in along with the New Zealand Cricket medical team and our specialist Rob Campbell."
The Black Caps leave for Bangladesh at the end of the month.
