KEY POINTS:
South Australian cricket has played down reports it is chasing the services of New Zealand batsman Lou Vincent for the 2007-08 season.
The Advertiser newspaper in Adelaide today reported that Vincent, 28, was in negotation with the South Australian Cricket Association (SACA) and was understood to be "strongly leaning" towards a move there.
SACA spokesperson Jenny Turner said that the report was speculation.
"This sort of thing happens every year during the contract negotiation period," Turner said.
"We have said nothing about any player and the contracts won't be finalised until early June."
Vincent lived in Adelaide from age 12-18, playing for representative age group teams, before returning to Auckland.
He has gone on to score 1295 runs at an average of 35.00 in 22 tests for New Zealand.
The aggressive strokeplayer's World Cup in the West Indies ended prematurely when teammate Shane Bond shattered his wrist during a net session.
