Jesse Ryder is the sole New Zealand survivor on the shortlist of nominees for the International Cricket Council's annual awards. Ryder is one of four candidates in the emerging player category, along with Australian fast-medium pair Peter Siddle and Ben Hilfenhaus and England swing bowler Graham Onions. The four finalists in player of the year are Indians M.S. Dhoni and Gautam Gambhir, Australian Mitchell Johnson and England captain Andrew Strauss. New Zealand umpire Tony Hill is shortlisted for umpire of the year.
