Batsmen Michael Papps and Hamish Marshall have been rewarded with contracts from New Zealand Cricket (NZC) after their fine form this season.
They are the two new players added to NZC's elite list of 20 contracted players for 2004/2005 released today.
Canterbury fast bowler Chris Martin deservedly rejoined the top-20 after his stunning 18-wicket haul in the South African series.
After averaging 51 in his debut one-day series against South Africa in February, Papps, 24, from Canterbury, made his test debut the following month and has been selected for next month's tour of England.
Northern Districts batsman Marshall, 24, came to prominence in the one-day series in Pakistan last year, averaging 81 - his first appearance for New Zealand since his solitary test against South Africa in 2000.
Marshall also played in the home one-day series against Pakistan and South Africa.
Evergreen one-day specialist Chris Harris, 34, has been retained on the top 20 roster.
Contracted players from last season to miss out were Robbie Hart, Matt Horne and Andre Adams.
Bowler Michael Mason, who played in the third test against South Africa also missed the cut.
Black Caps general manager Lindsay Crocker said Marshall was rewarded for his one-day performances over the past 12 months.
"Chris had an outstanding domestic season which he carried through into his test performances against South Africa.
"He has gained a yard of pace and shown he has the ability to get top class batsmen out.
"Michael had some success in his first season at the highest level and we believe he will continue to develop positively in the coming year," he said.
