The New Zealand XI to play Pakistan in a three day match in Whangarei has been named.
Brent Arnel, Trent Boult, James Franklin, Chris Martin, Brendon McCullum, Tim McIntosh, Jesse Ryder, Daniel Vettori, BJ Watling, Kane Williamson and Reece Young will take the field against Pakistan in the match, which starts on January 2 at Cobham Oval. Another player is to be added, with both sides agreeing to use 12 players for the match.
Selector Glenn Turner said the core of the team was from the New Zealand Test squad.
"This match will provide good preparation, especially for the likes of Tim McIntosh, Daniel Vettori, Chris Martin and Brendon McCullum who haven't played cricket in a while," he said.
"Trent Boult is a young bowler with considerable promise and he gets another chance to impress at a higher level.
"We will add another bowler to the team when the Auckland Aces and Central Stags sides are confirmed for the HRV Cup final."
