KEY POINTS:
The Black Caps have pulled off a remarkable victory over Australia to secure the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy for the first time in Auckland today.
Chasing 336 to win, a record for one-day internationals played in New Zealand, the home side won with five wickets in hand and eight balls to spare.
Leading New Zealand's run-chase was rookie batsman Ross Taylor who secured his second one-day international century and top-scored for the match with 117 off 126 balls.
Taylor was aided in the chase by Peter Fulton, recalled to the side for the injured Jacob Oram, who remained unbeaten on 76 to see his side home and Craig McMillan, who blasted a quick-fire fifty off only 30 deliveries.
Brendon McCullum chimed in with an unbeaten 22 off 12 balls at the death and sealed the win by smashing Australia's Glenn McGrath for a boundary on the fourth ball of the 49th over.
Earlier in the day Michael Hussey and Brad Hodge ensured Australia posted an imposing target for the Black Caps.
Australian captain Hussey also scored his second one-day hundred with 105 off 84 deliveries while Hodge was unbeaten on 97 when their fifty overs were completed.
New Zealand won the first game by 10 wickets in Wellington two days ago.
