9.25pm: James Franklin cuts the ball to backward square for four to give the Black Caps the win with 244 for seven after 45 overs.
Franklin (19) and Butler (13) did the business for the home side in a nervy final half hour as Bangladesh looked to sneak back with a wicket.
However the breakthrough never came as Butler and Franklin held their jitters to clinch the match and ODI series.
The damage was done for Bangladesh earlier in the innings with McCullum blasting New Zealand to 50 before Guptill picked up 91 with Vettori contributing with 34 runs of his own.
A much improved performance from Bangladesh who batted very well with Imrul Kayes scoring his maiden ODI century.
New Zealand wins with three wickets remaining as both sides head to the test in Hamilton off the back of an entertaining last ODI.
9.13pm: Two glorious strokes from Ian Butler has New Zeland within touching distance of the finish line as the home side sit four runs off 242 to win.
Butler's two fours puts him up to 13 runs with James Franklin.
9.02pm: New Zealand need 17 runs to win off 48 balls.
The Black Caps have the upper hand with a heap of balls remaining but Bangladesh only need a wicket or two to put the game back on shaky ground.
Great controlled bowling by the Banga's to limit Butler (5) and Franklin (9).
8.52pm: 220 for seven with ten overs remaining.
23 runs required off 60 balls for New Zealand to win with three wickets remaining.
Franklin (8) and Butler (3) look to close out the game as Bangladesh's faint hopes of winning are slowly fading.
8.43pm: The wickets continue to fall with Oram following Broom back to the changing room for 12 runs.
Ian Butler comes to the crease with New Zealand now feeling a few nerves as the Black Caps bowlers come out to bat.
Bangladesh will be encouraged by the regular fall of wickets as its given them real hope of winning the last ODI.
The crowd have stayed and are getting a good finish to this game.
Nervous moments for New Zealand as they look to improve on their 210 for seven after 38 overs.
8.38pm: Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan's persistance pays off with the wicket of Neil Broom who tries to pick off the arm ball which drifts back in to the wicket.

8.30pm: A very good innings by Martin Guptill comes to a very sad end with the right hander hitting flat to Tamim Iqbal at long off, out for 91.
He'll be gutted to get out so close to making a century, unlucky to pick the fielder when all his shots during the innings have found grass or stand.
Jacob Oram goes out to bat with New Zealand at 195 for five.
8.27pm: New Zealand zero in on victory as Guptill creeps in on his century with 89 runs off 87 balls after 34 overs.
The Black Caps require 53 runs off 96 balls to win the third ODI at AMI Stadium.
Islam and Shakib have fought hard to peg back a wicket in the last four overs with little luck.
8.15pm: Shakib Al Hasan comes back in to the bowling attack.
The touring side really need to pick off a couple of wickets to have any chance of winning this game at the moment they're only limiting the runs.
New Zealand has moved to 174 for four after 31 overs with Guptill at 79 with Broom at four runs respectively
8.00pm: The skipper goes for 34 runs off 36 balls after firing 14 runs with the first three balls off Mahmudullah's third over.
Vettori tries to go over mid wicket for the third time as Aftab dives to his left in the deep to take a well judged catch in the deep.
A crucial wicket but it was an expensive over with a six and a pair of fours from Vettori.
Neil Broom has walked out to the pitch with the score at 161 runs for four after 27 overs.
7.59pm: New Zealand require 26 runs off the last 24 runs to meet the required score of 242 to win.
Guptill has swiftly moved to 72 runs off 69 balls with Vettori yet to really fire on 20 runs.
7.50pm: Guptill smashes his first six in the 23rd over to bring up 128 runs for New Zealand for the loss of three.
Naeem Islam and Mahmudullah have taken to the bowling duties for Bangladesh.
Vettori only has 12 runs but his stay at the crease for a large chunk of the innings will help his side clinch a series whitewash.
7.35pm: Guptill brings up his fifty by punching the ball to long on for a single.
A supreb fifty from the talented West Aucklander who's hit eight fours in his climb to his half century.
Bangladesh have a chance for Daniel Vettori's wicket but his edge ghosts past Mushfiqur's gloves.

7.32pm: It's time for drinks for the players at AMI Stadium as New Zealand settle at 104 for three after 18 overs.
Guptill hits another pair of fours to sit at 48 runs off 43 balls.
Vettori has four runs to his name.
7.18pm: Ross Taylor heads back to the pavilion after being stumped by for 3 runs by Mushfiqur off another Shakib ball.
Taylor played a supporting role for Guptill when he was out there but he didn't take his own opportunities to make runs with a big miss allowing the Banga's wicketkeeper ample time to stump Taylor.
Daniel Vettori is elevated in the batting order for James Franklin who has an injury and goes out to bat.
If the vistors can grab a quick wicket it'll be all on at AMI Stadium.
New Zealand have 91 runs for three after 16 overs with a run rate of 5.5 an over.
7.07pm: A score comparison at this stage in the innings after 14 overs has New Zealand at 88 for two while Bangladesh were at 70 for two at same point in their innings.
7.00pm: Adding himself to the bowling frontline has brought immediate rewards for captain Shakib Al Hasan who cleanly bowls Ingram for 25 runs.
Unlucky for the rookie Ingram who was looking to cement his place in the side with a solid innings in this ODI.
Big break for Bangladesh who needed to halt the Black Caps fast start.

6.49pm: Martin Guptill plays two cover drives for four to take New Zealand to 51 runs after eights overs.
Guptill looks in sparkling touch right now, it could be a long evening for the Bangladesh bowlers.
Ingram has 15 runs with Guptill at 13.
6.39pm: Rubel removes Brendan McCullum with the third ball of his over for 19 runs.
McCullum gets down on one knee and tries to swing the ball over mid wicket and edges it on to his own wicket.
Bangladesh needed that wicket after going behind early with McCullum and Ingram picking up the run rate to 6 per over.
New Zealand are at 38 runs for one with Martin Guptill now at bat.
6.30pm: McCullum is getting on with the job and the Deans Stand at AMI Stadium is feeling the brunt of it as he hits another six to move to 19 runs runs off two sixes and a four.

A competitive score for the Banga's with Imrul Kayes' 101 the highlight of the innings.
He was skilfully assisted at different stages by Mohammad Ashraful (31) and captain Shakib Al Hasan (31) respectively.
A mixed innings for both sides as the visitors started stronger with the bat in hand but faded in the last five overs as the Black Caps bowling attack made inroads in the Bangladesh batting to limit their runs after a brilliant first 20 overs.
Tim Southee was the best bowler for the Black Caps with bowling figures of three wickets for 37 runs after ten overs.
He was well supported by his captain Daniel Vettori who finished with three wickets off 42 runs after ten overs
5.25pm: Naeem Islam goes for the big one off a Tim Southee ball but slices it over cover point to Peter Ingram on the fence.
Shafiul Islam comes in for his brother with 236 for eight for the maroons.
5.20pm: Vettori's arm ball bowls Imrul Kayes for 101 runs.
Kayes heads back to the pavillion with a standing ovation from the Christchurch crowd - a superb knock from the left hander.
A good period of bowling from the Black Caps skipper who bowled during the Power Play.

5.13pm: Imrul Kayes get his maiden ODI century.
Vettori pitches a short ball which he flics through to square leg to reach his ton.
A great innings from the opener which is the 17th century for Bangladesh of all time.
Hitting 11 fours in his innings Kayes has been in the driving seat for his side, steering them to over the 230 runs mark as they look to close out the innings with 250 plus runs.
5.11pm: Vettori strikes again, this time clean bowling Mamudullah for five.
The batting power play isn't going the way the Banga's wanted it to with another wicket falling with Bangladesh on 222 for five.
5.02pm: Vettori's got him.
Captain fantastic Daniel Vettori catches Rahim leg-before-wicket for four runs.
209 for five after 44 overs for the maroons of Bangladesh.
New Zealand have done well to limit the vistors during the batting power play.
5.00pm: Ross Taylor misses a chance to pick up another wicket as Mushfiqur Rahim hits it in the air to Taylor at cover who puts down a difficult diving chance.
Bangladesh move past the 200 mark to sit at 205 for four after 43 overs.

4.40pm: Southee's re-introduction does the trick for the Black Caps with Shakib Al Hasan out for 36.
Tim Southee's delivery catches Al Hasan off guard and hits high on the bat as he tries to heave it over mid wicket which skies to the reliable Ross Taylor.
Just the wicket New Zealand needed with Bangladesh at 191 for four wickets after 39 overs.
Kayes keeps his score ticking over to 79 with a pair of fours off the Southee over.
4.37pm: 183 for three for Bangladesh after 38 overs.
Al Hasan moves up to 36 runs with Kayes at 71.
4.27pm: Hasan and Kayes make the new ball work to their advantage with 10 runs off the first over with the new shiny white ball.
The Black Caps need to pick up a wicket as the Bangladesh side's dominance in the innings is beginning to deflate the Black Caps' enthusiasm in the field.
A wicket would kill off the vistors' runs build as they really look comfortable at this stage of the innings.
Guptill's stint with the ball in hand didn't bring up any reward (8 runs 3 overs) for his side but the part-time bowler did have his moments for the Kiwis.
4.17pm: Imrul Kayes pushes the ball to cover point to bring up the 50 partnership for Kayes (59)and Al Hasan (18).
A steady display from the two batsmen as they look to take the Bangladesh side pass the 150 mark.
New Zealand had a chance to pick off Shakib Al Hasan when he looked to sweep to fine but came off the face of his bat however McCullum couldn't glove the rebound as he moved down leg wicket to catch it.
151 for three after 34 overs for Bangladesh as both sides head to the drinks cart.
3.59pm: Kayes gets a half century.
A very good fifty from the 23 year old who has been the focal point of the Bangladesh innings using 75 balls and six fours to get over the mark.
If Al Hasan can make build off the back of Kayes' innings Bangladesh can post a competitive score for the Black Caps' run chase.
136 for three after 28 overs.
James Franklin has replaced Oram to partner Vettori with the ball.
3.53pm: Bangladesh finish the 26th over on 124 for three wickets.
Imrul Kayes closes in on his half century with 43 runs, a dogged display from the opener who has made of his opportunity at the crease by helping his side to a fast start.
Captain Shakib Al Hasan has seven runs of his own as he looks to plug the gap left by Ashraful after his dismissal.
It's also interesting to note that Al Hasan is rated the number one ODI batsman in international cricket above Australia's Shane Watson and Black Cap Ross Taylor.
3.33pm: Ashraful is out for 31 after a super catch from wicketkeeper Brendan McCullum.
Ashraful tries to push to third man instead it takes an edge and McCullum dives full stretch to his right and gloves the ball out of the air with one hand.
Superb take from New Zealand's glove man who reacted quickly to snap the ball when it looked like it was on its way for four.
Shakib Al Hasan goes to the crease with Bangladesh on 99 for three after 21 overs.
3.25pm: Kayes and Ashraful go on the aggressive and close on the 100 runs mark with 95 for two after 19 runs.
A vastly improved performance from Bangladesh's top order as they make New Zealand work hard for a wickets in the third and final match of their one day series.
Captain Daniel Vettori has thrown himself into the bowling frontline in the place of Ian Butler.
Butler had a costly last over as Kayes smashed two of his deliveries for four.
Kayes has 30 with Ashraful on 29 runs.
3.13pm: Bangladesh aren't making life easy for the Black Caps as they zip out to 75 for two after 16 overs.
Imrul Kayes adds a pair of fours to climb to 20 runs.
The home side's hopes of picking up more wickets after two men fell early on has been met with plenty of resistance from the Kayes and Ashraful (23 runs).
Their determined batting in the last hour has swung the innings in Bangladesh's favour.
3.00pm: Mohammad Ashraful moves to outside off and picks up Oram's slower ball and clips it over fine leg for four runs.
Ashraful moves to 16 with Imrul Kayes on 13 runs respectively.
Ian Butler and Jacob Oram come into the bowling attack to seek out another wicket for the home side.
Bangladesh finishes the 13th over on 63 runs for the loss of two.
2.45pm: The visitors bring up a half century of runs after ten overs.
Bangladesh's run rate after the first quarter of overs is 4.77, a very good tempo which would have been better had they not lost Iqbal and Ahmed's wickets.
Blacks Caps captain Daniel Vettori has stuck to his opening bowling combo of Southee and McKay as he looks to kill off the vistors quickly.

Ahmed tries to smash Andy McKay's bowl over the rope for six, instead he lobs a simple catch straight down the throat of Tim Southee at third man.
Bangladesh lose another wicket just when Ahmed and Imrul Kayes looked to have steadied the ship after Iqbul's early loss.
Mohammad Ashraful is now at the crease for the visitors.

2.05pm: Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal's exciting start comes to a crashing halt with the last ball of the first over off a Tim Southee delivery.
Iqbal's innings started with a hiss and a roar with two boundaries inside the first five balls before Southee struck with a seamer which inside edged his bat on to the wicket.
Bangladesh are 17 for one after two overs.
Mohammad Ashraful is the new batsman.
1.45pm: Black Caps captain Daniel Vettori has won the toss and inserted Bangladesh in to bat in the third and final one-dayer in Christchurch.
The pitch has been predominantly undercover for the last three days and has a noticeable green tinge to it.
The match is scheduled to start on time at 2pm after morning rain cleared, although AMI Stadium remained cloaked in cloud and light drizzle was forecast for later in the day.
Tim Southee is back in the Black Caps 11, replacing Daryl Tuffey who is resting a strained hamstring.
