Otago players Nathan McCullum and Ian Butler, plus Northern Districts' Peter McGlashan are in the squad. Wellington's James Franklin returns from earlier in the season.
McCullum and McGlashan have previous Twenty20 international experience, while former test and one-day bowler Butler is a renowned big hitter.
From the current one-day side Jeetan Patel, Craig Cumming, Trent Boult, Brendon Diamanti, Peter Fulton and Gareth Hopkins will not be required after tomorrow's one-dayer.
New Zealand selector Glenn Turner said the selection panel had opted to bring in multi-skilled players, well suited to the Twenty20 game format.
"James Franklin has been scoring very well in the State Twenty20 competition - and at a very good strike rate. He comes in primarily as a batting all-rounder," Turner said.
"Ian Butler will play as a bowling all-rounder with his brisk medium pace, and an ability to hit big at the death."
Turner added that McCullum comes into the squad on the back some strong domestic performances, while McGlashan will provide cover for wicketkeeper Brendon McCullum.
