Cricket: Mystery of missing players

There's plenty of head scratching over the no-show of Black Caps Chris Cairns and Jacob Oram in the latest round of four day provincial cricket.

Former test keeper Ian Smith said the players would be the first to admit they are out of bowling form, so he cannot understand why they are not using this week to improve their performance and accuracy.

Smith said he realises the team's medical staff have had a big say in the no-show, but keeping fit in the gym is not the only way to prove their fitness.
