A broken hand has ruled fast bowler Daryl Tuffey out of New Zealand's must win Champions Trophy one-day cricket match against England in South Africa tomorrow.
Tuffey broke his hand at training in Johannesburg, the third New Zealander to suffer a tournament-ending injury at the eight-nation event.
Allrounder Jacob Oram returned home without playing a match after straining a hamstring at training while opening batsman Jesse Ryder sustained a groin injury during his innings of 74 in New Zealand's 38-run win over Sri Lanka yesterday.
New Zealand will qualify for the semifinals if they beat England in their third and final group match.
Tuffey's place should be filled by seamer Ian Butler, who is available for selection after missing the opening loss to South Africa last week after going down with a stomach bug.
Manager Dave Currie said the team had suffered a run of bad luck since arriving in South Africa.
"Particularly for Daryl, who has worked so hard to get back in the team and has performed so well," he told Radio Sport.
