Veteran seamer Graeme Aldridge could be in line for a test debut at the age of 33 after Black Caps' left-armer Andy McKay has come down with an illness ahead of tomorrow night's test match against Zimbabwe.
McKay has a stomach bug and hasn't been officially ruled out yet, but his sickness comes on the back of the withdrawals of Kyle Mills (groin) and Jesse Ryder (calf) through injury.
Central Districts' all-rounder Doug Bracewell could also make his debut, as the squad is already thin on the ground for the one-off test match at the Queens Sports Park in Bulawayo.
Paceman Chris Martin, who is poised on 199 test wickets, will lead the bowling attack, but who will back up him remains to be seen.
The wicket is expected to suit batsmen, which could make for a challenging setting for Bracewell or Aldridge to make their first test-match appearances.
