Brendon McCullum is prepared for the possibility of his run of 52 straight tests coming to an end.
The Black Caps wicketkeeper/batsman is attempting to reinvent himself as a specialist batsman this season after giving up the gloves.
McCullum says he hopes the selectors feel he warrants a place in the Black Caps top-order.
He says it could be the worst decision he's made in his career but he thinks he can add value batting in the top three for New Zealand in test cricket.
McCullum is a nominee in three categories at the New Zealand Cricket awards dinner in Auckland tonight.
McCullum's in the running for the Redpath Cup for best first class batsman, the Walter Hadlee Trophy for one-day batting and the JR Reid Trophy for the best all-rounder.
