Martin Guptill has suffered another frustrating setback.
After working back from a hamstring injury he picked up in his stint in the Caribbean Premier League Twenty20 competition, the Black Caps batsman has torn a calf muscle.
The injury will see him sidelined for between four and six weeks, ruling him out of the Black Caps tour of the UAE, which begins on October 31.
"I'm not allowed to run at the moment – that's probably another two or three weeks away," Guptill said. "That's probably the most frustrating part; all the running and conditioning I've been doing the last few weeks with my hamstring is almost going to go out the window.
"I had a pretty good winter; injury-less. I picked up a little tweak when I was in the Caribbean and to come back and be tracking well with that, to get a different injury is extremely frustrating."
