Popular former Australian cricketer Darren Lehmann has confirmed he has been in talks with New Zealand Cricket to become the new Black Caps coach.
The New Zealand Cricket board is meeting today to make an appointment in time for the Bangladesh series, which starts on Wednesday.
Lehmann says he would love to coach the Black Caps. He says they are a young side, but they are led very well by Daniel Vettori and have the goods to go a long way in the world game.
It is understood Lehmann is popular amongst the Black Caps players. He has coached Scott Styris at the Deccan Chargers in the Indian Premier League for the past couple of seasons.
Lehmann is also the president of the Australian Cricketers'; Association.
