Express pace bowler Brett Lee has been left out of the Australian side for the opening cricket test against New Zealand, starting this morning in Christchurch.
Lee has had New Zealand batsmen struggling throughout the one-day series with captain Ricky Ponting admitting he had a psychological advantage over the Black Caps.
The selectors have opted for the incumbent trio of Michael Kasprowicz, Glenn McGrath and Jason Gillespie.
Lee remains without a test cap since January 2004.
Meanwhile with the axing of Darren Lehmann, Michael Clarke is elevated to five in the order and Simon Katich slots in at six.
Christchurch's weather has come to the party for the first test.
Today's forecast is for fine weather at first with high cloud, however there could be a change to showers later this afternoon, clearing tomorrow morning.
Fine, sunny weather is forecast for the following four days.
