Got a message for Aussie 'cheat' Brad Haddin? Post your comments on the Cricket Australia website
KEY POINTS:
The Brad Haddin controversy has seen an outpouring of scorn heaped on the Aussie team with Kiwi cries of "cheat" harking back to the notorious underarm bowl of 1981.
Neil Broom was marching along on 29 as the Black Caps chased down a miserable Australian total of 181 when a ball by Michael Clark got past his bat.
However the ball appears not to have hit the stumps. From the endless replays, the stumps appear to have been broken by Haddin's gloves in front of the wickets and, according to veteran umpire Darrell Hair, would be a no-ball.
Broom walked but it seems many Black Caps fans will not follow suit. In the Your Views section of nzherald.co.nz, fans have attacked Haddin and his Australian captain Ricky Ponting.
AKG is typical of the responses: "No, he was not dismissed legally - Ponting and his band of cheats need to grow up, learn to be responsible for their actions and be man enough to own up when they make a mistake - the entire Australian Cricket Team is a disgrace to their country!"
Chris agrees: "Haddin is a cheat caught by the camera and still denying it afterwards."
Australian fans have also found the Your Views threads and have hit back at the Kiwis.
This from David Hildebrand: "Whinge, whinge, whinge. NZ = Land of the Long Whinge. You lot are a pack of sooks. Geez, anyone would think that NZ Cricket side had never done anything dodgy either - remember a certain Sri Lankan game a few years back anyone? Hypocritical Wimps."
But there is also an apology from an Australian fan, Lloyd of Brisbane: "I am totally ashamed of the Australian cricket team's attitude (Ricky Ponting in particular) as will many other Australians be. Neil Broom is clearly not out - (I have viewed the video over and over) and I would like to apologise to the New Zealand Cricket Team for the Australians not displaying sportsmanship."
Cricket Australia has a message board discussing the current season but the Haddin incident is yet to be picked up on.
