Iain O'Brien's plans to help New Zealand to a series victory over Pakistan in his final cricket test had a potential setback yesterday when he aggravated a finger injury.
O'Brien left fielding practice early at McLean Park, nursing his right hand after taking part in outfield drills.
The 33-year-old seamer dislocated the middle finger of his bowling hand during New Zealand's 32-run victory in the first test in Dunedin. He played in the second test defeat at the Basin Reserve last week, revealing part way through the match that tomorrow's series finale would be his last international game.
O'Brien fields with a guard on the finger but it was still jolted by the impact of a ball. He was assessed by medical staff and declared fit for selection alongside fellow pace bowlers Chris Martin and Daryl Tuffey.
