KEY POINTS:
Peter Fulton arrives back in the New Zealand ODI team today in a positive frame of mind and with a pile of runs behind him.
A knee injury and subsequent recovery time forced the tall Cantabrian out of the South African and Australian tours, where his batting teammates took some tough treatment.
His knee is fine after surgery and his domestic form - 22, 72, 22, 92 and 126 - has been impressive.
Either side of his hundred against Otago earlier this month he hit a couple of centuries for Canterbury Country, a senior club ton and another in a Hawke Cup zone match.
The opposition standard may have varied but nothing beats runs in the back pocket in terms of confidence.
"I came through the knee operation well and I'm looking forward to the challenge," he said.
Fulton, who is set to slot at No 3 today, made his ODI debut against Bangladesh at Chittagong in November 2004 and has hit 1112 ODI runs in 36 games at a tidy 35.87.
"I love three in both forms of the game and I'm going to work hard to retain that position," he added.
Fulton has rejoined a squad he maintains is in good heart despite the results in South Africa and Australia,
"There is a good feeling in the camp and they're looking forward to putting in good performances at home."
Fulton, 28, got only a glimpse of Bangladesh in the Twenty20 festival game in Hamilton on Sunday - but he saw enough to tell him New Zealand needed to get on top from the start of the series and not allow the tourists to find any momentum.
