The New Zealand Cricket selectors announced that James Franklin will replace Jesse Ryder in the One-Day squad for the upcoming series in India.
Selector Mark Greatbatch said: "Ryder suffered a calf injury in the first Test and although he showed great determination to push through the discomfort in the second and third Test it is clear the injury has not improved.
"Due to the condensed nature of the tour there is insufficient time to fully recover for the One-Day matches.
"We believe it is best for Jesse to return to New Zealand where he can undergo further assessment and continue his rehabilitation.
"While it"s obviously disappointing for Jesse this gives James a wonderful opportunity. His ability with the bat and the ball make him the ideal replacement."
