New Zealand allrounder James Franklin sustained a finger injury during training today, putting him in doubt for tomorrow's first ODI against South Africa in Wellington.
Black Caps' physiotherapist Paul Close said Franklin dislocated a joint in the little finger of his right hand while attempting to take a catch.
"Hewas taken to hospital where x-rays cleared him of any fracture, but he is still is some discomfort.
There was still a reasonable chance Franklin would be fit to play tomorrow, Close said, with a fitness test scheduled for the morning to determine his availability.
"If he does miss out tomorrow we're confident he will be ready for the remaining ODI matches."
Tom Latham, who made his New Zealand debut earlier in the month against Zimbabwe, has been called into the squad as cover and will join the team before tomorrow's match.
