KEY POINTS:
Captain Stephen Fleming returns to the Black Caps after a three-match break, leading New Zealand in their fourth one-day cricket international against Sri Lanka at Auckland's Eden Park on Saturday.
With New Zealand coach John Bracewell continuing his player rotation policy in the build-up to the World Cup in March, Craig McMillan and Jeetan Patel also return to the 13-man squad named today while Nathan Astle sits out the match.
Patel had been released from the squad to play for Wellington yesterday and McMillan replaces James Marshall.
The return of Stephen meant that Nathan Astle would remain home in Christchurch, Bracewell said.
"With the continued use of Brendon McCullum at the top of the order, it is now necessary to introduce a player who can provide a powerful finish to the innings and we are looking to Craig to provide that.
"James Marshall is the unlucky one to miss out, but we want him to continue to put pressure on those selected in the squad."
New Zealand lead the five-match series 2-1 after winning a rain-shortened third match by four wickets in Christchurch yesterday.
Black Caps squad for the fourth one-dayer:
Stephen Fleming (captain), Andre Adams, Shane Bond, James Franklin, Peter Fulton, Mark Gillespie, Hamish Marshall, Michael Mason, Brendon McCullum, Craig McMillan, Jeetan Patel, Ross Taylor, Daniel Vettori.
