Cricket: Doug Bracewell back in ODI squad

Doug Bracewell has been recalled to the New Zealand one-day international squad in place of the injured Mitchell McClenaghan.

McClenaghan suffered a fracture just above the left-eye in the opening ODI against Pakistan at the Basin Reserve in Wellington, and will undergo minor cosmetic surgery on Friday.

Bracewell will join the squad ahead of the second match in Napier on Thursday and travel with the team to Auckland for the final match on Sunday.

Black Caps coach Mike Hesson said McClenaghan's health was the priority.

"Our main focus is making sure Mitch is okay and we'll continue to monitor him over the coming days.

"Doug has been in superb form this summer and we're confident he can come in and do a good job for us. He's an integral member of our wider bowling group."

Bracewell has played five Ford Trophy games for Central Districts this season, taking three wickets (all in his last game against Canterbury) an average of 54.66.

He has been in great form with the bat though, averaging 39.75 including a career-best 80 against Northern Districts, as well as smashing a 23-ball 50 against Auckland.

Bracewell also played in three ODI's against Sri Lanka last month, taking four wickets at an average of 28.2 and an economy rate of 5.3
