Martin Crowe's application to be a national cricket selector has been bowled over due to a perceived personality clash with Black Caps coach John Bracewell.
The former test captain and New Zealand batting great received permission from his bosses at Sky Television to apply, but said he was told by New Zealand Cricket (NZC) on Tuesday that he was "wasting his time".
The Dominion Post reported today that Crowe, executive producer of cricket for Sky Television, was frustrated and disappointed by NZC's approach.
Crowe, the second highest test runs scorer for New Zealand, was told by NZC an interview would not be granted
He said any talk of a personality clash was ridiculous and people had to "move on from that."
As a cricket commentator and newspaper columnist, Crowe has not hesitated to criticise Bracewell's tactics or selections.
