With the Chappell-Hadlee one-day series already decided, Black Caps off-spinner Nathan McCullum may get a chance in tomorrow's fifth and final match in Wellington.
McCullum is the only member of the Black Caps' squad yet to feature in the series.
Coach Mark Greatbatch says he is likely to be brought into the playing eleven, a sentiment captain Daniel Vettori shares.
"We'll definitely look at Nathan McCullum coming into it. I think Westpac Trust is a bigger ground, that allows Nathan to come into the mix a little bit more."
Nathan McCullum has only played two one-day internationals, the last of which was in Abu Dhabi against Pakistan last year.
The Black Caps selectors will pick their test squad this afternoon, with an announcement expected tomorrow. Greatbatch has revealed there could be some changes to the test squad.
"We played Bangladesh in the last test and won. But we've got a squad there, maybe one or two other players for discussion. We've got to try and get the right mix to compete against Australia."
Peter Ingram may have been dropped from the one-day squad, but that does not mean he will be omitted from the test side. He is batting at three for Central Districts in their Plunket Shield match against Wellington, with an eye to next week's first test at the Basin Reserve.
Greatbatch is refusing to be drawn on Ingram before meeting with the selection panel.
