New Zealand seamer Doug Bracewell has pulled out of the squad ahead of the second test against Australia, starting in Christchurch on Saturday.
Bracewell has been troubled by a right shoulder injury, on which he had a scan in Wellington.
"Doug has been a consistent performer for us this summer and put a lot of work into his game, so to miss out on the final test against Australia is very disappointing for him and us," said coach Mike Hesson.
Dylan Cleaver: The curious case of Neil Wagner
"He'll be given time to recover and we'll work with him to get him back training as quickly as possible."
No replacement in the squad has been named. There are two other seamers in the group, left armer Neil Wagner and in-form Matt Henry. Bracewell's withdrawal trims the squad to 12.
