KEY POINTS:
Talks aimed at keeping star fast bowler Shane Bond playing for New Zealand will continue into next week.
Bond, who has signed a lucrative contract to play for the rebel Twenty20 Indian Cricket League for three years, is under contract to New Zealand Cricket until May.
NZC have been looking at ways to assist Bond out of the ICL deal and into a contract with the rival Indian Premier League, organised by the Indian cricket board, a member of the International Cricket Council.
If that happened, Bond, 32, would be available to continue playing for New Zealand. Discussions between the parties began this week. Neither will comment until the issue is resolved.
Players who sign for the ICL - six played in the inaugural competition in India last month - are subject to a request by NZC to its selectors that other players should be considered for selection ahead of them.
Bond's NZC contract takes in the forthcoming England tour. If he's prevented from being selected, there is the possibility of legal action over restraint of trade.
The IPL offer for Bond is understood to be about US$250,000 ($319,000), significantly lower than the ICL amount of US$800,000 a year.
Five current New Zealand players have been announced to play in the officially-endorsed IPL. The highest payment among them is US$350,000 for former captain Stephen Fleming.
