Former New Zealand fast bowler Shane Bond has joined the Central Districts coaching staff for the Champions League Twenty20 tournament starting in South Africa next week.
Bond, 35, who retired from playing all forms of cricket in May, will be the assistant coach to Alan Hunt for the rich event, primarily to oversee the seam bowlers.
He told The Dominion Post he had a goal to coach at higher levels and that the 10-team tournament was an ideal first step.
Central Districts' first match is against Indian Premier League champions Chennai in Durban on September 11.
