Black Caps trio Trent Boult, Corey Anderson and Colin Munro have reportedly been let go by their Indian Premier League teams.
The New Zealanders are understood to be among a group of up to 40 players released from their contracts as the eight IPL franchises reduce their rosters ahead of next season.
Despite their newfound status as free agents, strong performances throughout the Black Caps home season could help their chances of winning new contracts when the annual IPL player auction takes place on February 4.
According to the Mumbai Mirror, Boult has been deemed surplus to requirements at the Hyderabad Sunrisers, while the Mumbai Indians have chosen to cull Anderson who has struggled with injury over the last two years.
Boult joined the Sunrisers last season on a lucrative $600,000 deal, but the left-arm fast bowler made just one appearance before slipping down the pecking order behind Bangladeshi international Mustafizur Rahaman.
