New Zealand won the toss and sent Bangladesh in to bat in the first test at a blustery Basin Reserve in Wellington today.
New Zealand have stuck with the players who beat Pakistan 2-0 late last year, with left armer Trent Boult coming in after missing the second test of that series with injury.
Bangladesh have included seamers Subashis Roy and Kamral Islam and Taskin Ahmed but have omitted their fastest bowler, Rubel Hossain.
The tourists have never beaten New Zealand in any format in 19 attempts in New Zealand. This will be their third test at the Basin Reserve, the first two, in 2001 and 2008, ending in innings defeats.
