The Black Caps opening tour game against the British Universities side has been abandoned as a draw, but at least there was some play on the last day.
The first two days were washed out in Cambridge, but the weather cleared for 35 overs to be bowled.
New Zealand batted, making 128 for three.
A fit again Nathan Astle hit 64 not out as he looked to prove his fitness and form ahead of the test series.
Mark Richardson made 39 and Scott Styris 22, while Michael Papps was out for a first-ball duck.
New Zealand's next tour game is against Worcestershire starting Friday night (NZ time).
