KEY POINTS:
New Zealand have lost ground in the world one-day cricket rankings despite beating Bangladesh 2-1 in a three-match series.
The Black Caps won the series in Chittagong yesterday but their success has not been rewarded in the International Cricket Council rankings.
They remain fourth in the rankings, but dropped three ratings points.
New Zealand entered the series leading Bangladesh by 71 rating points and this gap meant they were expected to win the series convincingly.
Because the rankings were weighted to reflect this difference, New Zealand's failure to win all three one-dayers cost them three points.
A 3-0 result would have lifted them to second in the rankings behind Australia.
Instead, New Zealand now join India on 113 ratings points but are ahead of Mahendra Singh Dhoni's side when the ratings are calculated beyond the decimal point.
