KEY POINTS:
Jacob Oram's release to play for Central Districts ahead of Wednesday's third one-day cricket international against the West Indies has been short lived with the injury-prone allrounder reporting a slight Achilles tendon injury yesterday.
Oram was among eight squad members named to play the latest round of the domestic one-day competition around the country today, but instead he will stay with the New Zealand set-up to have his latest niggle assessed.
New Zealand coach Andy Moles said Oram sustained the injury while bowling during the West Indies' successful run chase for 158 at AMI Stadium in Christchurch on Saturday night.
The West Indies won by five wickets off the penultimate ball of a match reduced to 28 overs a side after a four-hour rain delay.
Oram delivered five overs for 25 and claimed the wicket of Xavier Marshall who was bowled by a slow offcutter for two.
The medium pacer had one over available to him but was not recalled after telling captain Daniel Vettori of his discomfort.
A fit Oram would have been handy heading into the final overs when the West Indies needed 40 runs for victory.
Expensive overs by Kyle Mills, Tim Southee and Jeetan Patel left the tourists needing only four from the last over - a task Ramnaresh Sarwan (67) and Denesh Ramdin (28) coolly achieved.
Jamie How, Ross Taylor, Daniel Flynn, Grant Elliott, Mark Gillespie, Neil Broom and Brendon McCullum will turn out for their provinces before returning to Wellington for New Zealand's final training session tomorrow.
