Herald cricket writer Andrew Alderson details the best moments from the fifth day of the first test between the Black Caps and Pakistan in Abu Dhabi.
Important moment:
Reviewed decisions tend to strip some of the natural emotion emanating from taking the final wicket. However, it hardly dampened Pakistan's joy. Captain Misbah-ul-Haq celebrated his 15th win out of 33 in charge, a national record, surpassing Imran Khan and Javed Miandad.
Best shot:
Boult (is he really New Zealand's worst batsman?) brings up the New Zealand 200 by stepping down the wicket to Zulfiqar Babar and lofting him over his head in a perfect fluent motion. The shot left the surrounding close-in fieldsmen (and possibly Babar) with mouths agape.
Ball of the day:
We didn't wait long. Second ball, second over from Yasir Shah to Mark Craig. Trots around the wicket, flights it into Craig who pushes forward but there's a gap in the gate. Yasir, no wallflower in the exuberance stakes, revels in his craftsmanship.
That's quirky:
There were no successful reviews in the test by the fielding team.
