Kane Williamson will depart the Black Caps squad today to recover from a minor shoulder injury.
Williamson's injury occurred while diving in the field during the Black Caps' first test against Sri Lanka at Hagley Oval recently and was expected to keep him out for seven to 10 days.
Coach Mike Hesson said that while they had successfully managed the injury during the second test and opening one-day international, now was the right time for Williamson to recover with next month's World Cup looming.
"Kane is obviously a very important player for us and we need to give his shoulder the time to fully recover," said Hesson.
"He's played a lot of cricket of late and this window will allow him to get back to 100 per cent."
