Wellington has kept the heat on the top three sides in the Super Smash Twenty20 cricket competition.
The Firebirds posted a six wicket win over the Aces in Auckland to draw level with them in third place on the ladder, in touching distance with leaders Canterbury and Northern Districts.
Auckland managed 174/7 batting first, but Wellington reached the total with an over to spare thanks to a thunderous 84 from Australian import Brad Hodge.
