Centuries by Corey Anderson and Anton Devcich rescued New Zealand A from a precarious 43 for four on the opening day of their four-day match against India A in Vizakhapatnam yesterday.
Having won the toss, NZ A were in trouble early but got to stumps at 300 for eight thanks to the Northern Districts pair.
They shared a 165-run stand for the fifth wicket, Anderson hitting 100 off 126 balls, with 16 fours and two sixes. Devcich made 115 from a more measured 185 deliveries with 15 fours.
The only other batsman to reach 20 was captain Tom Latham, with 21, while there were ducks for opener Neil Broom and Luke Ronchi.
Ronchi had hit a century in the opening tour game against the same opponents last week, which was a rain-affected draw.
