CUTTACK - New Zealand cricket allrounder Scott Styris' man of the match cricket performance against India quickly turned sour overnight after he was stung 100 per cent of his match fee for dissent.
The hero of New Zealand's four-wicket TVS Cup tri-series win over India was hauled into match referee Ranjan Madugalle's office after the match and slapped with the $2500 fine.
Styris was adjudged leg before wicket for 68 off the bowling of spinner Murali Kartik by Indian umpire Arani Jayaprakash.
Styris was clearly unimpressed, appearing to mouth the words "you've got to be f... joking" to the umpire as he walked off.
Madugalle, of Sri Lanka, found Styris guilty of dissent but stopped short of suspending him, apparently because of his excellent disciplinary record.
It was the first time in Styris' seven-test, 68 one-day match international career he had appeared before the match referee.
