Cricket: Schoolboy shows internationals how to catch

With New Zealand's catching woes continuing in Hamilton yesterday, the Black Caps could learn a thing or two from 14-year-old Reuben Andrews.

The St Paul's schoolboy took a contender for catch of the summer early in England's innings - and he didn't even leave his seat.

Reuben was at the game to attend to the boundary ropes and was sitting just inside the picket fence at Seddon Park. It was a position that served him well when Ian Bell pulled Andrew Ellis for six.

The ball eluded a leaping Mitchell McClenaghan on the boundary but not Reuben, who leaned low to his left and got two safe hands to the ball.

"The ball just came and the guy missed it, so I sort of dived," Reuben said, adding that he saw it pretty late because of McClenaghan's jump.

The boy's efforts were acknowledged by a round of applause, something he described as "pretty cool".

But he modestly played down the catch, saying, "It was pretty easy."
