Rain disrupted New Zealand's momentum on day one of the second cricket test against Bangladesh at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka today.
The heavens opened during the tea interval and ensured no play was possible for the rest of the day as Bangladesh closed the opening day on 228-5.
New Zealand claimed three wickets during the second session, which allowed them to fight their way back in to the contest after the home side looked on track for a big total.
At 166-2, Tamim Iqbal and Mominul Haque seemed set for a lengthy stay at the crease but Haque, who made an entertaining 181 in the drawn first test in Chittagong last week, flashed at a wide one from Corey Anderson and was caught behind by BJ Watling for 47.
Iqbal then took up the initiative as he moved towards a century but he tried to ramp one bouncer too many behind square from Neil Wagner and he was caught by Kane Williamson for 95 as Bangladesh fell to 208-4.
