Australia clinched a three-wicket victory tonight, and with it the three-match series 2-0 against New Zealand in the historic first pink ball test at Adelaide Oval.
Requiring 187 to win, Australia got there in a tight squeeze as New Zealand strove hard to pull off what would have been a sensational win.
Left armer Trent Boult finished with five wickets, removing Shaun Marsh for 49 and Peter Nevill near the end. He and Tim Southee finished off bowling with seven slips fielders at Peter Siddle and Mitchell Starc before Siddle struck the winning runs.
Earlier New Zealand had been dismissed for 208 in their second innings, not enough to really push Australia.
They worked hard and for much of the middle session it was an even stevens contest before Marsh and younger brother Mitchell put on 46 for the fifth wicket to pull the game away from New Zealand. The tourissts' had other ideas and Australia had sweaty palms before the winning runs.
