The naming of the New Zealand A group to travel to the United Arab Emirates next month has been delayed a day.
The group of players to play four matches against the World Cup-bound associate countries, Afghanistan, the UAE and Ireland twice were to be named tomorrow but instead will be revealed on Wednesday.
The reason for the delay is to assess an injury to opening batsman Hamish Rutherford. He damaged the little finger on his right hand picked up during a game for Otago last week.
Rutherford is in the test squad, but if he is ruled out it would have a trickle down effect to the NZ A group of players.
It is expected that 12 players will be named on Wednesday, flying out in mid-November, while the test squad depart for their three tests against Pakistan in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah on Thursday.
