A rapid unbeaten 70 by allrounder Mitchell Santner helped set up an easy 172-run win for New Zealand A over Sri Lanka A at Lincoln today.
Santner, shortly off to Australia for New Zealand's test tour, got his runs from only 43 balls as NZ A rattled up 299 for five off 45 overs after an early rain delay.
He was helped by 53 from Michael Bracewell, 47 from George Worker and 44 from Henry Nicholls, with Santner's knock including five fours and four sixes.
NZ A had earlier got off to a rollicking start, with 50 on the board inside six overs and Sri Lankan opening bowler Nisala Tharaka being smashed for 39 off his two overs.
The Sri Lankan batting was well off the pace, finishing on 127 for nine, with the wickets shared about by the NZ A bowlers - the best on display being Otago paceman Jacob Duffy, who took 2-13 from seven overs.
