The Northern Knights scored a seven wicket win over Sri Lanka's Southern Express in the first game of the Champions League Twenty20 qualifiers in Raipur.
Heavy rain reduced the match to 10 overs per side and after lengthy delays.
Northern kept the Southern Express to 92 for five. The Knights dropped five catches in the first six overs and looked to be heading for a tough challenge before Trent Boult took two wickets to help restrict the Sri Lankan side.
The Knights then chased down the total with three balls to spare thanks largely to a superb 52 off 29 balls from Kane Williamson.
Northern's next game is against Lahore tonight. A win in that match will almost assure them of a spot in the tournament proper.
