New Zealand are looking at the prospects of a day in the field in 36deg C temperatures at the Waca today in their two-day pink ball match against a West Australian XI.
The local side won the toss and chose to bat.
New Zealand will use all 15 players in the squad during the two days.
The day is split into the standard three sessions, with an afternoon tea break at 4pm, dinner from 6.20pm with the day due to finish about 9pm (2amNZT).
That replicates the hours of play in next week's third test at Adelaide, the first to be played under day-night conditions with a pink ball.
