Australian pace bowler Ryan Harris has had his comeback from injury hampered after a groundsman marked out a pitch two metres too long.
Playing in a Brisbane grade match for his local club Toombul in the weekend, the Australian test and ODI bowler found something was amiss when he hadto strain to pitch the ball up, the Courier Mail reports.
After an over of having edges fall short of his slip cordon the pitch was inspected by the local groundsman who realised he marked it too long.
"He had mucked up his tape measure and the pitch was 22 metres long rather than the normal 22 yards long,'' Harris told the newspaper.
The mistake meant the pitch was almost two metres too long, instead of the traditional 20.12 metres.
"It had to be re-marked and the game had to be restarted. Never in my life have I been a part of anything like that on a cricket field or even seen anything like that. It was so funny but it was also bloody embarrassing for the club."
Harris, returning from a hamstring injury, was looking to find form ahead of the Australia's test series in South Africa starting next month.
