A Daniel Flynn century has helped put Plunket Shield leaders Northern Knights in a strong position against Wellington at the Basin Reserve.
Flynn hit 136 in an innings that lasted for four and a half hours and included 14 fours and three sixes and helped his side post a second-innings total of 303, giving Wellington a target of 330 for victory tomorrow (Mon).
At stumps on a rain-shortened day they were 17-2, with openers Michael Papps and Josh Brodie both dismissed.
Flynn had received help from Hamish Marshall (39) but apart from a knock of 26 from tailender Brent Arnel, there was no other score of substance for Northern.
Off spinner Jeetan Patel did most of the damage for Wellington, taking 4-89 off 28 overs, including the wicket of Flynn, who was stumped. Mark Gillespie chipped in with 3-78 off 24 overs.
