Cricket: Dramatic finish to Champions League match

Mitchell Marsh miraculously hit two sixes off the final two balls to earn the Perth Scorchers a remarkable six-wicket win over South Africa's Dolphins in their opening game of the T20 Champions League in India on Saturday night.

Faced with the almost-impossible task of getting 12 runs off two balls, the in-form Marsh sensationally smashed two maximums off Robbie Frylinck's bowling to clinch a stunning win at Mohali.

Chasing 165 to win, the Scorchers were steady in their approach with Craig Simmons (48 off 36 balls) and Sam Whiteman (45 off 32 balls) laying the foundation.

However, the run chase appeared to get out of hand, needing 15 off the final four balls, before Marsh's heroics.

The Man of the Match finished with 40 not out off 26 balls, including the two sixes and three boundaries.

Earlier, Joel Paris (2-21) led the way as the Scorchers ripped through the Dolphins top order, only to allow the South Africans to reach 7-164.

Khaya Zondo made an unbeaten 63, helping to lift the South Africans from 5-75 in the 11th over.

The Dolphins, who won the toss, scored 67 runs off the final six overs.

It was the first time the Scorchers had won their opening match of the ten-team tournament, having competed in 2012 and 2013.
