Michael Clarke's involvement in the test series against India could be over and there are even fears the Australian captain might miss the upcoming World Cup.
Clarke limped from the Adelaide Oval during yesterday's pulsating final day of play in the first test against India after injuring himself while fielding. He was soon sent for scans after injuring his right hamstring and returned saying the results were "not fantastic".
Australia have summoned Shaun Marsh to replace Clarke and also added left-arm paceman Mitchell Starc to their squad for the Gabba test starting on Wednesday.
He's had terrible trouble with his left hamstring in recent times and was only passed fit to play the series opener in Adelaide after overcoming a hamstring strain suffered in a one-day match on November 14.
He then suffered a recurrence of his long-term back injury while batting on Tuesday's opening day which forced him to retire hurt. Clarke had injections to soothe spasms in his back and returned to the crease the next day to complete a memorable century. But he was injured again when fielding a ball. He shaped to throw but instantly pulled up lame.
