Northern Districts opener Dean Brownlie began the day at the crease against Central Districts at Pukekura Park in New Plymouth and 97 overs later he was still there with 222 next to his name.
Brownlie hammered the CD bowlers to all corners yesterday, while none of his teammates could pass 40 as ND finished day one of the Plunket Shield encounter on 341-5.
The 30-year-old's innings included 32 fours and two sixes and there's no telling what he could add to his personal tally when play resumes today.
Four CD bowlers all took a wicket each but none of them were able to make significant inroads as the day belonged to Brownlie. His partners were left to sit back and play second fiddle and Mitchell Santer ended the day at the crease with Brownlie on 39 not out.
Brownlie moved to ND this season with an eye on cementing himself as an opener in the New Zealand test side and this innings should grab the attention of those that matter in the Black Caps management.
