Ben Stokes has been left out of England's squad for the third Specsavers Test against India starting at Trent Bridge on Saturday after the selectors named the same 13 on duty for the victory at Lord's.
The England management will make a final decision on Stokes's availability after the conclusion of his trial for affray at Bristol Crown Court but have decided to name their squad anyway for the Test in order to give the players and management clarity.
England will begin training in Nottingham on Thursday. The jury at Stokes's trial are expected to begin their deliberations tomorrow.
England's squad includes plenty of cover for Stokes. Chris Woakes scored a Test hundred as his replacement at Lord's and the 13 also includes Essex's Jamie Porter as the spare seamer. Moeen Ali has been retained as back up spinner but England are likely to stick by the same XI that won by an innings and 159 runs at Lord's.
Trent Bridge is traditionally a pitch suited for seam and swing bowlers and England feel they have the balance of the team right at the moment and head to Trent Bridge full of confidence after going 2-0 up in the series at Lord's.
